After shelving the idea due to limited experience, the brothers returned to it following further study and a chance partnership with the “Cells At War” platform, a collaboration between George Brown Polytechnic and McMaster University. Nikhil noted that they can look at it as a way of addressing some negative information that exists on the topics of vaccine. The game now includes a “Compendium,” described by Nihar as a “Pokédex for viruses,” offering players factual data on each pathogen they defeat.

The brothers added tower‑defence segments inspired by the “Blight” encounters in Path of Exile, allowing players to protect specific body regions before they heal. It makes sense narratively, Nikhil explained, noting that each cleared area represents a recovered part of the body.
Weapon design reflects the biological theme. An early version featured a Frost Turret that created an icy barrier; after consulting with McMaster researchers, the turret evolved into a “Clumper Turret” that uses goblet cells to produce mucus, slowing viral foes. This blend of gameplay function and scientific narrative aims to make the experience feel unique among shooters.
Both brothers draw on distinct academic backgrounds—Nihar studied film and game design, while Nikhil holds degrees in genetics and public health. Their collaboration blurs the line between artist and scientist, a hybrid perspective that informs the game’s development.
