iRobot, known for its autonomous Roomba vacuums, has introduced its first manual floor cleaner.
The Roomba Electro Plus is a $399 cordless vacuum and mop designed for hard floors. It combines suction, mopping, and disinfecting in one unit but requires manual operation.
Customers had requested a faster way to handle small messes without waiting for a robot to complete its cycle. The Electro Plus addresses this need, allowing users to quickly clean kitchens or bathrooms while leaving the rest of the house to the Roombas.
“I appreciate being able to sanitize my bathroom and kitchen with it and let the Roombas manage the rest of the house,” said Adam Pope, iRobot’s chief engineer and vice president.
The device converts tap water into a commercial-grade disinfectant using electrolyzing technology from its parent company, Picea. This process eliminates 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, and fungi without additional cleaning solutions. The dock automatically washes and dries the mop pad, though users must still empty and refill the water tank.
While brands like Dreame and Roborock have offered similar devices, iRobot emphasizes disinfection, marketing the Electro Plus as ideal for homes with children and pets.

Alongside the Electro Plus, iRobot announced five new Roomba models for the U.S. market, now available for preorder. The updates include higher suction power, smaller designs, and lower prices than their 2025 predecessors.
The flagship Roomba Max 775 Combo ($999.99) replaces the $1,299.99 Roomba Max 705 Combo. It adds hot-water mop washing and stain cleaning, with suction power reaching 30,000Pa.
Some models announced in Europe, including the Roomba Plus 615, Roomba 675, and entry-level Roomba 115 Combo, were not included in the U.S. preorder selection.
A manual cleaner may seem unusual for a company focused on automation. For households already using Roombas, the Electro Plus provides a way to address immediate messes without interrupting the robots’ routines. It reflects that even in smart homes, some tasks still need human effort—at least for now.
The new Roombas and the Electro Plus are available for preorder on iRobot’s website starting today.
